Crazy Month!

Well, last month was a really busy month for us. It started with the week of Fall Festival, which, of course, is exactly when my nausea kicked in so I wasn't able to eat exactly the way I wanted to at the Fall Festival this year. The following weekend was Eric's sister's wedding, which was definitely a whirlwind, which ended with Eric and I making our big announcement to his family at breakfast the morning after while all of his family was in town.

The third weekend in October, Eric and I had an "Open House" for my family. Almost everyone was able to come and see our house now that a lot of the painting has been done. Of course, there was a special announcement when our guests got to see the new baby room:)

That following Wednesday was our 3rd anniversary, so we went to BDubs for dinner. (For some reason, that's what I was craving, but of course, once we got there, I couldn't eat half of my meal.) Then, we went to see the movie Paranormal Activity, which was super scary! If you like scary movies at all, I would highly recommend this one...

The fourth weekend of October, we spent in Ft. Wayne because my friend Holly got married. Being the matron of honor, I had a lot of duties. It was a busy weekend, but I had a great time hanging out with Holly and other UE people I haven't seen in years.

The Wednesday of that week was Eric's birthday, so we spent the evening eating out at Red Robin with our families. Of course, there was homemade carrot cake back at our house. For some reason, I had an easier time eating the carrot cake instead of my meal at Red Robin. I keep telling Eric he is getting old, but I probably shouldn't say anything because in about a month, I will have caught up to him!

Finally, the weekend of Halloween, Eric and I spent the weekend in Nashville to celebrate our anniversary. Even though it was a really busy month, we wanted to make sure we got our time away because it will be the last year that it will be just the two of us. We did some shopping around Nashville on Saturday and Sunday at some little shops and then at Opry Mills. On Saturday night we enjoyed a meal at The Melting Pot in downtown Nashville, and I was finally able to eat enough to get my money's worth:) Then, we took a ghost tour of downtown which was a good time. Maybe I will try to get around to posting some of the pictures we got of all the orbs. The next day we tried to go to the Bell Witch Cave on the way home, where the Bell Witch supposedly still haunts the area. (For those of you who don't know the legend of the Bell Witch, look it up - it's creepy!) However, the cave was closed due to all the rain, so we will have to plan another trip to the area.

It seems like October went by in a flash, but November is proving to not be much different. Thankfully, my school semester will end at the end of the month, and I will get a much needed break to just focus on the baby!

Our baby at 8 weeks and 2 days:)

Baby Coming Soon!

I realize we have been pretty much absent from this blog since June, but we have been really busy. I have been working a ton and trying to keep up with my school work.

The biggest development lately is that we are expecting a baby May 29, 2010:) We had an ultrasound today which confirmed that there is just ONE baby and everything is looking normal. We are so excited about this new addition to our family!

So much to do...so little time...

We just got back from a wonderful vacation in Europe. This time we visited Dublin, Prague, Munich, and Venice. We have some pictures posted on a flickr account:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/72101519@N00/sets/72157619460051040/

I will warn you that I think there are almost 2,000 of them...we take a lot of pictures on vacation!

Things have been really crazy the last month. I spent 5 nights at school for my improvisation class, came home for two days to work and pack, then left for our 16-day adventure. We are just now getting over our jet-lag and putting our house back together. I also took a supplemental position at Deaconess Crosspointe to be an activity therapist on the child/adolescent unit, though I will also be doing occasional groups on the adult unit. I am doing my physical, TB test, drug testing, etc. this week, and then I start my orientation on Monday. It should be interesting. I have always wanted to work in psych, so I'm really excited to start.

I also received news last week that the BDDS office approved my proposal to be a waiver provider and was sent on to the CRFC board. Yesterday, I found out that my proposal was approved, so I am now ready for the next phase of the process. I am hoping that by the end of the summer, I will be able to start seeing clients through the state's waiver program.

I have also been busy trying to get a shower and bachelorette party together for my friend Holly who is getting married in October. Since I am the Matron of Honor, I guess that responsibility falls to me;) In addition to that, I am going to be the President of the Sigma Alpha Iota alumnae chapter this year, so I have to start preparing for my big meeting with my exec board next week so that we can plan the year.

When I get a chance, I will post more about our trip!

Vacation Planning

I haven't posted on here in quite a while because I have been extremely busy with school, work, family stuff, working on the house, and planning our next (much-needed) vacation. I will try to keep updating, but you know how it is when you're busy!

Anyway, we have finally booked our plane tickets from the US to Europe and from Dublin to Prague, as well as our hotels in each city. I set up a budget for ourselves and we were able to not only stay with the budget but come up almost $500 under budget for our hotels. When we look for hotels, we have very strict criteria. They have to be $150 a night or less (which is hard to do in Europe), have free breakfast, and be in the center of he city. It is also a plus if there is free wireless internet and a safe box in the room. Once we find the hotels that fit this criteria, we check out the reviews on tripadvisor to make sure they are clean, legit, and in good areas of the city. I'm sure this sounds really crazy to some of you, but when you fly halfway across the world to a city you have never been to, you want to make sure you don't end up in a bug-infested motel in a bad part of town!

Anyway, here is where we are staying:

Dublin

Prague

Munich

Venice

40 hours and counting...

We have been out of power for over 40 hours now. We were able to stay at the house all day yesterday because we have a gas fireplace and a hot water heater run by gas, but we ended up having to go to Eric's parent's house for the evening. We decided that 14 degrees was way too cold to try to sleep through. We currently have all our refigerated food outside in coolers so hopefully we don't lose everything. We are crossing our fingers that power will be restored in our neighborhood so we can sleep in our own bed tonight! Snow days are no fun when you can't spend that at your own house eating homemade chili and watching movies:(

Fondue!!

We had our first "dinner party" in our new house on Saturday night. Brian, Abbie, and Macie came over for a Fondue dinner.

We had cheese fondue first, with bread, broccoli, and apples to dip in it.

Our main course was Coq au Vin fondue with chicken, shrimp, mushrooms, and potatoes.

Of course, we had to have chocolate fondue before the meal was finished! We had strawberries, graham crackers, brownies, marshmallows, and bananas.

Peanut Butter met Macie again for the second time, but he still can't figure out who or what she is. Macie slept through the whole thing!
